NEW SINGLE NOW STREAMING EVERYWHERE

Chicago area alt-rock project We Feed Alone revels in slow burning layers, simmering with dark, driving rhythms, powerful guitar and bass passages, plaintive keyboard melodies and soul-piercing lyrics. Eric Straton (drums, songwriting, production, guitar) leads the group’s charge alongside a dynamic, ever-expanding roster of artistic collaborators. Contributing artists to the We Feed Alone collective have included Rogelio Lois (vocals, songwriting, keys), visual artist Roger Schuff, Doug Wagner (bass, vocals, songwriting), producer Ryan Earnhardt (Creative Sound Lab), award-winning producer/composer David Vázquez and more. Together, they infuse the group with a vivid range of melodic colors and feelings, combining into deep layers that tip their sound over a razor-sharp edge. Straton’s production talents shine through intricate recordings as he guides We Feed Alone’s music across a spectrum of elegant and ferocious emotions; each song tells a story that wanders through meditative stillness, moments of hard-hitting rhythms, and searing rock instrumentation, circling fiery lyrics about death, heartache, loss, pain and ultimate survival that make up the human experience and give We Feed Alone its raw, universal energy.

Initially founded in 2010, We Feed Alone has seen many different incarnations throughout its continued evolution. The band released its debut, self-titled full-length album in 2012 with Straton and Wagner, who have performed for enthusiastic crowds at The Elbo Room, Reggies and other renowned venues throughout the Chicago area. In 2020, Straton began to reach out to artists he admired within music and production forums to share creative ideas and explore multiple genres. It was here that he met Lois, and the two began to write music together remotely as they clicked through their shared interest in experimenting with alt-rock, heavy metal and alt rock music. They continued to craft music together remotely, building a palpable creative chemistry through collaborative songwriting and arranging, rehearsing and sharing ideas via Zoom sessions and released a series of self-reflective, mystical singles and videos that put Straton’s unexpected rhythms and Lois’ kinetic voice on full display: the transcendental, shadowy ballad “Deep Dark” in summer 2023, the mystical song “Marvis” in fall 2023, and in December 2023, the dark electronic/alt-rock ballad, “Behind the Veil,” which was offered alongside Straton’s bonus “B-side” psychedelic mix. “Behind the Veil” was also selected by the Illinois Psychedelic Society to be featured in their global art gallery throughout February 2024 for Psychedelic Art Week.

Straton continues to steer the sound of We Feed Alone in new directions and show his limitless vision as a mixer, producer and multi-instrumentalist as he seeks to evolve the sound with new partners across genres. He recently reunited with co-founding member Doug Wagner for the powerful single, “What Burns Beneath,” released in April 2024 to critical acclaim. The song’s lyric video premiered the same month and has garnered almost 40,000 views to date. Wagner lends gritty, poignant vocals and bright guitar to Straton’s stellar drumming in this charismatic alt-rock single with a raw, live feel. The new single, “One Anothers,” featuring Scout Hughes, from the original We Feed Alone lineup on guitar and vocals will release release February 7, 2025. The “One Anothers” official music video premiered on Music-News on January 23, 2025. More to come!
